Informations about Venice
BY CAR
 

Getting to Venice by car is easy: the directions to reach the city are clearly marked with road signs.

Venice can be reached by:

* motorway connections:
- the A4 from Trieste and from Turin
- the A27 from Belluno
- the A13 from Bologna
(for more information: the motorway companies)

* road connections:
- state road 309 Romea from the Adriatic coast
- state road 14 from Trieste
- state road 13 from Treviso
- state road 11 from Padua

The only vehicle access road to Venice, the Ponte della Libertà, is a straight road 4 km. long with two lanes in each direction, where the speed limits are clearly indicated.

Always observe the speed limits posted, never stop on the bridge and always be careful when driving.

If you want to reach the Lido of Venice by car, you can take ferry-boat n.17 from Tronchetto (Tronchetto Ferry - Boat stop) to the Lido of Venice (S.Nicolò Ferry - Boat stop. The cost of the passage depends on the size of your car (from 10 € to 20 €): driver's ticket is included in the car's fare and passengers pay the regular ticket.

Parking


Parking areas in Venice are located in Piazzale Roma and Tronchetto. However, during peak tourist season, it is best to park in the mainland area of Venice.

Using the Urbis Limen web site you can book parking spaces on-line or via fax , without paying any surcharge, saving time and in the certainty of finding a spot.

Before reaching Piazzale Roma, follow the street signs and then turn right to reach Tronchetto.

You can easily reach Venice from Tronchetto by taking the ACTV boat line 82 which brings you to the heart of the city (don't take the unlicensed taxi or boat drivers!), or by taking the ACTV bus, line 6/ that brings you to Piazzale Roma.



MAINLAND VENICE

Mainland Venice has plenty of available parking in Mestre, Marghera, San Giuliano, Fusina, Tessera, Ca' Noghera.

From these locations, you can reach Venice by:

- taxi (Radiotaxi Mestre: tel. 041.936222);
- bus;
- train (all the trains arriving at Mestre continue to Venice Santa Lucia railway station)

(ATTENTION: train tickets and bus tickets CANNOT be purchased on board: you have to purchase them before boarding at the ticket offices or other outlets)

From park-and-ride car parks outside Mestre you can easily reach Venice (Piazzale Roma) or the centre of Mestre by bus : buy bus tickets at the nearest tobacconist or coffe shop.
You must stamp your tickets on buses. On non-working days and weekdays from 8 pm until 7 am, you can buy your ticket on board the bus, by asking the driver. The cost is higher than the tickets normally available from any outlets . After purchasing, you must stamp your ticket in the machine. Please have the right coins ready. Urban fare 1,50€
